Dr. Matthew Steffer is a native of Arlington, Texas, and is a graduate with honors of Baylor University, with a degree in Biochemistry. Dr. Steffer completed his dental degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where he was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society which highlights academic excellence. Dr. Steffer then completed a comprehensive program in periodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX, where he earned his certificate in periodontics and Masters of Science in Oral Biology.
During his residency, Dr. Steffer served as the chief resident and completed a master’s thesis project studying minimally-invasive techniques for treating periodontal disease. He is also licensed to provide moderate levels of intravenous conscious sedation. Since the completion of his specialty training, Dr. Steffer achieved board certification status from the American Board of Periodontology by successfully completing rigorous written and oral examinations.
>Dr. Steffer has a passion for the underserved and has served on multiple dental mission trips to Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico. He is a member of American Dental Association, State of Texas Dental Association, Fort Worth District Dental Society, American Academy of Periodontics, Southwest Society of Periodontics and Texas Society of Periodontics, allowing him opportunities to be on the cutting edge of new technologies and treatments available in dentistry. Dr. Steffer also participates in study clubs with dentists and dental hygienists, teaching them about new trends in periodontics.
On a personal note, Matthew has been married to his wife, Karen, for 6 years, and they have two young children – a son, Graham (3), and a daughter, Kaitlin (10 mo). Dr. Steffer and his family are members at Fellowship Bible Church in Dallas, where he teaches a kindergarten Sunday School class. In their spare time, they enjoy traveling, going to movies, and visiting family.
